Adopted Unit FSC, 3-187th Infantry Regiment (Rakkasans) invited Sheila Bogen representing this unit’s adopted City of Cold Spring, to their Christmas Party. The Rakkasans unit just returned from Iraq.
Hello,
We're home from Ft. Campbell and had an outstanding time! We were the guests of honor, greeting each Soldier as they came through the Receiving Line, sitting at the Head Table and receiving a plaque of appreciation. Each one told me how much they appreciated our care packages and the goodies inside. I recognized so many of their faces from their "Iron Nomads" website, so it was great to be able to put names with those faces, plus reconnected with some that have been to Cold Spring for our Cruise-In. They all got hugs, many got kisses, too, and several got dances out of me! I scored points for downing a glass of Grog and something else that I think might have been Jet fuel without a blink (hey, I'm Catholic and German/Irish...I can handle it! :-) ) Those guys sure know how to party! I also handed out our "Cold Spring Adopted Soldier" coins to a few newbies and welcomed them to my family.
I wore a formal dress that had a jacket covered with sparkles. The sparkles tended to come off during the evening and it pleased me to no end to see all the Soldiers sporting sparkles because it meant they got one of my hugs.
I really have to say that this was, without a doubt, the BEST party I've ever been to.
Merry Christmas all! Sheila
