First Ever Libertyville - Warren America Supporting Americans Lacrosse Challenge

When the Libertyville HS Boys Lacrosse team opens their season against Warren this Wednesday, both teams will have the 101st Airborne on their mind. Both LHS and Warren are involved in the America Supporting Americans program, a non-profit organization dedicated to building support connections with armed services units.

The lacrosse teams have been assigned to two different 96th Aviation Support Battalion companies in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, part of the 101st Air Assault Division "Screaming Eagles" based at Fort Campbell, KY and now deployed to Afghanistan. Libertyville supports C "Cipher" Company which provides communication support and Warren supportsB "Big Ugly" company which provides aviation maintenance support. Both teams have collected items for and packed over 140 care packages that will be sent to their respective units. In a recent email, CPT Bulthuis, the Commander of C Company noted, "Thank you for reaching out to support the troops. Believe me when I tell you that every little bit helps."

To publicize and show enthusiasm for their adopted units, LHS and Warren will be playing for bragging rights and a special trophy this Wednesday, April 7, at 6:00 in the LHS Stadium.
