"It's amazing how much support we've had. People want to reach out to these men and women to show them we all care."

SHEILA BOGEN  reports:  Mayor Mark Stoeber personally thanked everyone who donated and said he encouraged people to continue helping by dropping items off at the city building between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Another volunteer and I were interviewed yesterday by our local Fox19 news regarding Cold Spring's adopted unit.  They did an on-air plug for ASA and mentioned several of the other No. Ky. cities also involved in ASA. Fox19 said that people should contact their local city government if they were interested in adopting a unit, too. The spot aired on last night's 10pm news.

City of Taylor Mill.... Denise saw the news interview last night. She said Taylor Mill is gearing up to send their first shipment to their unit.

Once again, thanks so much for allowing me to be a part of this!

The City of Sarasota is going to place something on their website also.  Even though this troop unit is only fostered by our City, response has been terrific.  We have had television & newpaper coverage.  On Friday at 1pm media will be here to film us wrapping boxes to send for holidays

Burlingame, California

Bravo Company received 77 boxes from Burlingame this week.  More to follow.

“For a lot of guys, they were awestruck.  The XO and I are going to enjoy a couple of the DVDs over the next few nights.  I sent the vast majority of those to 1st Platoon as they don't have some of the amenities we have here at Warrior.

I am proud of the boys, but even prouder of the support we are getting from Burlingame.  You guys are absolutely awesome.  We are blessed to be sponsored and adopted by such a great group of folks.  Please pass on my sincerest appreciation to Phyllis and the rest of the group for the hard work, dedication, and support.  I will also be out to visit upon our return from Iraq. …”

These pictures came this morning and it looks like the Christmas trees are there and some of the packages too.

We are getting letters to say that they are receiving packages every day and that makes us happy to know that they are receiving them O.K.

Local City Gives Extra Support To Troops
ABC7 Salutes

Nov. 11 - KGO - This Veterans' Day, we'd like to tell you about one Bay Area city that's going the extra mile to honor some active-duty soldiers in this week's ABC7 Salutes.

Christmas decorations are piling up at San Mateo City Hall. Soon they'll be shipped off to the 101st Airborne's home base -- Fort Campbell, Kentucky -- and then on to Iraq, where the 101st's Alpha company infantrymen just arrived for their second tour of duty.

Norma Gomez, San Mateo City Clerk: "It is their goal to have a Christmas as if they were home. Everything, decorations, a tree, lights."

AIRAN SCRUBY
News Assistant

Soldiers of the Kentucky 101st Airborne Division have found a helping hand and emotional support from the City of Malibu.

The division’s Alpha Company, the 2nd Battalion of the 101st Airborne, was initially adopted by the city in 2002. Citizens are now being recruited to write letters to a soldier through a pen-pal program facilitated by nonprofit group Americans Supporting Americans, which connects civilians with soldiers.

“I’m grinning from ear to ear. I so appreciate what you’re doing for my boys, our boys,” said the mother of one soldier, who must remain anonymous while her son is deployed.

Boynton Beach, Florida
North Palm Beach.  They will definitely adopt.  They just can't decide if they want a ship  or a unit that has one of their citizens attached to it (they are still trying to locate one).  We will send letters of request to all the Mayors in Palm Beach County, and try to find some more cities that will let us present to their Commissions.  Still plugging away in Florida...
